Go-live checklist for your Tappla app (Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV)

Here’s a step-by-step checklist to make sure you have everything ready for publishing your Tappla app.

Written by Robert Blessing

1. Connect your video source

  • Tappla does not host videos. You need to connect a video source such as Vimeo, a JSON feed, or add manual videos.

  • Tappla automatically syncs your content every 24–48 hours (except for manual videos, which must be updated manually).

2. Customize your app

  • Use the Tappla dashboard to brand your app with your logo, colors, and layout.

  • Changes are instant and can be tested right away.

3. Preview your demo app

  • Download the Tappla demo app on your TV device.

  • Enter your demo code (sent to you by email) to preview your app with your own content.

  • Test the navigation, design, and content flow before moving on.

4. Prepare for publishing

Depending on the platform, additional steps are required:

Apple TV (tvOS)

  • Apple Developer Account: Enroll in the Apple Developer Program (USD 99/year). We recommend an Organization account so your app lists under your company name.

  • App Store Connect API Key: Generate one API Key and send us the Key file, Key ID, Issuer ID, and your Team ID — no need to add us as a user. Instructions here →

  • We upload your app: Tappla builds your tvOS app and uploads the finished build to your App Store Connect account, with everything technical ready to go.

  • You complete the store listing: You fill out the App Store listing details yourself in App Store Connect — your app's name, description, keywords, and screenshots — and then submit it for Apple's review. Apple keeps this part with the account owner, and it only takes a few minutes.

Roku

  • Tappla builds a custom Roku SDK channel for you.

  • We send you the finished build, and you submit it to the Roku Channel Store through your own Roku Developer account.

Fire TV

  • Tappla builds a native Fire TV and Android TV app for you, just like Apple TV and Roku.

  • We send you the finished build via apps.tappla.com, and you submit or install it yourself — no separate developer account needed.

5. Final steps before submission

  • Upgrade to a Tappla Premium plan to move forward with publishing.

    • No charges are made until 7 days after your app is approved.

    • If you're still testing, contact us to extend your trial.

  • Timeline: Once all information is provided, submission and approval usually takes 1–2 weeks, depending on the store's review times.

6. Go live 🎉

  • Once approved, your app will be live in the App Store, Roku Channel Store, or on Fire TV.

  • You'll be able to share the store link with your audience.
