Yes, you can live stream on your Roku, Apple TV, or Fire TV app using Vimeo.

However, there are specific requirements based on the type of content you wish to stream and your Vimeo subscription plan.

How We Utilize Vimeo

We use the Vimeo API to obtain your video streaming URLs. Vimeo imposes certain limitations on their API access depending on your subscription plan.

Requirements for Standard (On-Demand) Videos

To stream standard (on-demand) videos through the Vimeo API, you need to be subscribed to one of the following Vimeo plans:

  • Current Pricing Plans:

    • Standard

    • Advanced

    • Enterprise

  • Legacy Pricing Plans (if you're on Vimeo's old pricing structure):

    • Pro

    • Business

    • Premium

Requirements for Live Streaming

For live streaming capabilities using the Vimeo API, the requirements are more stringent:

  • You must be on an Enterprise plan.

  • The Events feature must be added to your plan.

Our Experience with the Enterprise Plan

Vimeo's Enterprise plan is super expensive.

So what's the alternative? Using a live streaming provider that supports HLS streaming URLs. You simply copy and paste the URL to Tappla and that's it.
