My app is empty or won't build — video source troubleshooting

The most common reason a Tappla app looks empty or won't build is the Vimeo/source setup. Run this checklist.

Why your app looks empty or will not build

Almost every "my app is empty" or "nothing happened after setup" case comes down to the video source. Run this checklist before anything else.

  1. Are you on a paid Vimeo plan (Standard or higher)? Tappla connects through Vimeo's API, which only works on a paid Vimeo plan. A free Vimeo account will not connect, and the build cannot proceed without videos.

  2. Are your videos inside a Vimeo Showcase? Tappla pulls from Showcases, not from your general Vimeo library. Videos that are not in a Showcase will not appear.

  3. Is the playlist or Showcase enabled in your dashboard? Each one has a toggle. A playlist that is toggled off contributes zero videos to the app.

  4. Is the video privacy compatible? See the table below.

  5. Did you paste your Vimeo Access Token? It goes in your dashboard under Contents. Without it, Tappla cannot read your videos.

Vimeo privacy setting

Works in Tappla?

Public

Yes

Unlisted (hidden from Vimeo, embeddable)

Yes

Hide from Vimeo (embeddable anywhere)

Usually yes

Private / Only me

No

Password-protected

No

We recommend Unlisted as the default: it keeps videos off Vimeo's public discovery but still lets Tappla pull them.

Still empty after all of that?

If your Vimeo plan is paid, your videos sit in an enabled Showcase, and privacy is Unlisted or Public, reply here or email [email protected] with your account email and we will inspect your feed directly.
